Ball & Ring, Brass, Gravesande's
The classic brass Ball & Ring apparatus to prove and demonstrate the effects of heating a metal.
If the ring is chilled in ice, the ball cannot pass through the ring. If the ball is heated, it cannot pass through the ring. A chain joins the ball to the ring so they cannot become separated.
The IEC item is carefully machined and matched for size so that the experiment works.
Bar & Gauge, Brass with insulating handle
The classic brass Bar & Gauge apparatus to prove and demonstrate the effects of heating a metal. If the bar is heated or if the gauge is chilled in ice, the bar cannot fit the gauge both in length and in diameter. Unlike the Ball & Ring, the two are not chained together.
The IEC item is carefully machined and matched for size so that the experiment works.

'Thermostat' temperature control provides heat adjustment from 50 to 320deg.C and the plate maintains the set temperature.
NOTE: For general boiling of water etc. it is necessary for the plate to achieve maximum temperature of about 450degC, therefore the 'Simmerstat' control (SKU: CH1920-001) model is recommended for this purpose.

NOTE: For general boiling of water etc.to overcome heat losses, it is necessary for the plate to achieve maximum temperature of about 450degC, therefore the 'Simmerstat' control model is recommended for this purpose.
